Modern Renaissance
|
What happens when a concert is filled with music written about and programmed for a specific space? What story would emerge? What sounds would emerge? These questions will be explored in 2023 as Nightingale performs Modern Renaissance, a program featuring original music by Nightingale's in-house composers responding to the splendor and beauty of a well-hidden gem, the Museum of Modern Renaissance. This former church in Somerville is a present-day Sistine Chapel, with impeccable acoustics and every square inch covered with thought-provoking canvases depicting creation stories from myriad cultures. This art serves as the inspiration for a unique musical experience, including world premieres by Nightingale's own Nicholas Ford, Nathan Halbur, Kelvyn Koning, John Haukoos, and Angela Yam. Come hear (and see!) what this collaboration holds.
Join us as twelve Nightingales perform this contemplative, meditative, compline-style service. This is a one-night-only performance, so be sure to not miss out!
This project is led by Nightingale member Joshua Glassman.
Selections in bold indicate a world premiere.
